Materials You’ll Need:

  • Empty toilet paper roll (or paper towel roll)
  • Construction paper (black and yellow)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Cover the Toilet Paper Roll with Yellow Paper

Start by cutting a piece of yellow construction paper that’s large enough to wrap around the toilet paper roll. Use double-sided tape to secure the paper in place.

This will be the body of your school bus!

Step 2: Cut the Details of the School Bus from Black Paper

Get your black construction paper and cut out small rectangles and circles for the bus’s windows and wheels.

If you want to be extra creative, you can cut a thin strip for the bus’s bumper.

This step is great for kids’ fine motor skills!

Step 4: Create the Road

It’s time to pave the way for our little school bus!

Grab your rectangle of black construction paper – this will be the road.

Add some “lanes” using double-sided tape to make it extra fun.

Cut several strips of the tape and place them vertically along the length of the black paper.

Imagine you’re creating lanes for the bus to drive on, so space them out evenly.

Kids will love pretending they’re traffic engineers designing the perfect road.

Step 5: Assemble the School Bus Loop

Alright, it’s time for the grand finale!

Take the toilet paper roll school bus and get ready to hit the road.

Carefully place your school bus onto the sticky strips of double-sided tape on the black paper road you just created.

Make sure it’s aligned nicely so it looks like it’s driving down the highway!

You can even add some fun details like drawing little road lines or signs with a white or yellow crayon to make the scene come alive.

Let your kids’ imaginations run wild as they create their own little traffic adventures.
