To make a toilet paper roll leprechaun trap, you only need basic materials, including paper rolls, construction paper, and craft supplies like glue and scissors.

The idea is to create a small trap hoping to catch a leprechaun.

Concept of the Leprechaun Trap Story

You can tell kids the story while gathering the supplies for your toilet paper leprechaun craft.

Most kids are fascinated by the stories of leprechauns and their pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

According to Irish folklore, leprechauns are mischievous little creatures known for their love of gold and ability to grant wishes.

They are said to be very clever and difficult to catch, but if you manage to capture one, they will grant you three wishes in exchange for their freedom.

Building a trap is one of the best ways to catch a leprechaun.

The idea is to create a trap to lure the leprechaun in and then keep him trapped until he grants your wishes or leaves you some of his gold.

How To Make A Leprechaun Trap That Really Works

This is where the toilet paper roll leprechaun trap craft comes in.

Like leaving cookies out for Santa, set up the trap the night before St. Patrick’s Day.

After the kids go to bed, leave some gold-foiled chocolate coins, rainbow-colored candy, or even Lucky Charms around the trap.

This means that their DIY leprechaun trap worked, and the little leprecahun left them some treats so it could escape.

It’s a fun tradition that makes St. Patrick’s Day more exciting for kids.

Be sure to download the free printable template of leprechaun feet to leave a trail near the trap.

Step 7: Cut a circle from the black paper the same size as the inner circle of the toilet paper roll.

Fold the circle in half to cut a small slit in the middle. This is so you can catch the leprechaun.

Then, cut another strip of black paper to cover the top part where the black circle paper will be attached.

Use double-sided tape to attach it.

Substitute Materials

If you don’t have all the supplies on hand, here are some substitute materials you can use:

  • Paper towel rolls instead of toilet paper rolls
  • White paper instead of green construction paper (you can color it green with markers or crayons)
  • Shiny foil instead of yellow paper coins
  • Cut a paper ladder

After constructing the toilet paper roll leprechaun trap, it’s time to add some finishing touches to make it more enticing for the leprechauns.

Adding Bait for the Leprechaun

The bait is essential, as it will lure the leprechaun into the trap.

I recommend using gold coins or shiny objects as bait, as leprechauns are known to be attracted to shiny things.

You can also use small pieces of candy or chocolate coins as bait.

To add the bait, simply place it inside the trap or near the bottom.

Make sure it’s visible and easy for the leprechaun to reach.

You can also sprinkle glitter around the bait to make it more attractive.

Another option is to place the trap near a pot of gold (a small container filled with gold coins or chocolate coins), as leprechauns are known to be attracted to pots of gold.

With these finishing touches, your toilet paper roll leprechaun trap is ready to catch some mischievous leprechauns!
