When we started, my youngest child asked, “Who is Uncle Sam?”
So I went on to explain that Uncle Sam is a symbol of the United States of America.
He is often depicted as an older man with a white beard, wearing a top hat and a red, white, and blue suit.
Uncle Sam represents the American government and the American people.
He is often used to encourage people to support their country and to show their patriotism.

How To Make An Uncle Sam Paper Plate Craft
1. Cut a paper plate in half with scissors.
2. Print out the Uncle Sam beard template and trace it onto one half of the paper plate.
Cut along the traced lines to create the beard.
3. Paint a half-circle shape on the other half of the paper plate to form the face.
Let the paint dry.
4. Cut 3 strips of red construction paper and one strip of blue construction paper.
Arrange them horizontally and vertically, respectively, and then attach them to the paper plate with glue or tape. This will make Uncle Sam’s hat!
5. Cut two small circles out of red paper for Uncle Sam’s cheeks.
Then, cut two circles out of white paper, use a black marker to color the circles black, and leave small white dots for the eyes. Or you can even use googly eyes if you have them on hand!
Attach them to the paper plate.
6. Glue the rosy cheeks and eyes to the paper plate.
7. Finally, attach the beard to the paper plate to complete the Uncle Sam craft.
