This Earth Day activity is for kids of all ages, from preschoolers to older kids.

They will love making their own Earth template from a simple paper plate!

The craft features a smiling Earth with the eco-friendly message “Save water, grow trees, reuse & recycle” and an interactive moving heart that says, “Love the Earth.”

As you work on this Earth Day paper plate craft with your kids, please take the opportunity to discuss the significance of caring for our planet.

Encourage them to think of ways they can make a difference, such as turning off the water while brushing their teeth, planting a tree, or recycling their toys and books.

Instructions To Make The Paper Plate Earth Day Craft:

Step 1: Take out your blue construction paper and scissors. Cut out a big blue circle big enough to fit one of the paper plates.

Make two, because both paper plates must be covered in blue.

Take your glue and glue the blue circle onto the paper plate.

Get it nice and smooth!

Step 3: It’s time to give your Earth a smiley face!

Use your black marker to draw a big smiley face on the planet.

Cut out two tiny circles from the pink construction paper to make some rosy cheeks.

Stick the pink circles on your Earth’s face, just like a cute blush!

Write Save Water, Grow Trees, Recycle & Reuse

Step 5: Write your Earth Day messages on the blue outside edge.

Your kids can write any message they want, but remind them to encourage others by writing helpful messages about protecting our Earth.

Here are the three messages we wrote on ours:

  • Save Water.
  • Grow Trees.
  • Recycle and Reuse.

Step 6. Now glue the blue outer rim of the plate you cut to the Earth paper plate.

Remember to leave the bottom edge unglued so you can add your heart later!
