As you work on this Earth Day paper plate craft with your kids, please take the opportunity to discuss the significance of caring for our planet.
Encourage them to think of ways they can make a difference, such as turning off the water while brushing their teeth, planting a tree, or recycling their toys and books.
The fun part about this craft is that it is interactive, meaning kids can move the heart all around.
Kids can play with their Earth Day craft while being reminded of the importance of loving and protecting our planet.

How To Make A Paper Plate Earth Day Craft
Materials You Will Need:
- Construction paper (red, pink, blue, and green)
- 2 paper plates
- Popsicle stick
- Glue
- Scissors
- Black marker
Instructions To Make The Paper Plate Earth Day Craft:
Step 1: Take out your blue construction paper and scissors. Cut out a big blue circle big enough to fit one of the paper plates.
Make two, because both paper plates must be covered in blue.
Take your glue and glue the blue circle onto the paper plate.
Get it nice and smooth!
Step 2: Next, let’s make Earth’s beautiful green land! Cut out fun shapes with your green construction paper and scissors in shapes resembling continents and islands.
Using glue, stick the green land masses onto the blue paper.
You can put them anywhere you like!
Step 3: It’s time to give your Earth a smiley face!
Use your black marker to draw a big smiley face on the planet.
Cut out two tiny circles from the pink construction paper to make some rosy cheeks.
Stick the pink circles on your Earth’s face, just like a cute blush!
Step 4: Take your second paper plate, which has blue construction paper glued to it, and fold it in half.
Using your scissors, carefully cut the outside edge of the folded paper plate off.
This is what you will see when you show off your special Earth Day messages.
You can view the video to see how it is done. Also, look at the image above.
Step 5: Write your Earth Day messages on the blue outside edge.
Your kids can write any message they want, but remind them to encourage others by writing helpful messages about protecting our Earth.
Here are the three messages we wrote on ours:
- Save Water.
- Grow Trees.
- Recycle and Reuse.
Step 6. Now glue the blue outer rim of the plate you cut to the Earth paper plate.
Remember to leave the bottom edge unglued so you can add your heart later!
Step 7: Cut a heart shape from your red construction paper.
Make sure it is the right size to fit on your popsicle stick.
Glue the red heart securely onto the popsicle stick.
Write “Love the Earth” on the heart.
Finally, pass the popsicle stick through the bottom hole of your Earth Day craft.
Now, when you push the stick, the heart will swing around, encouraging love for our beautiful world!
Sharing is caring, and when it comes to Mother Earth, there’s no such thing as too much love. Please share this easy Earth Day craft on Pinterest, Facebook, or your favorite platform! Spread the love for our amazing planet & inspire others to join in on the Earth Day fun!
